Victor Lim – Saturday 13th July 2024, 12 noon

Our final lunchtime concert for emerging artists sees the return of South Korean-British pianist, Victor Lim, who is establishing himself as one of the most versatile and creative musicians of his generation.

In a programme that draws influence from other sources, we will be treated to; Bach’s Siciliano, borrowed from the hauntingly exquisite flute sonata; Debussy’s Suite Bergamasque which surrounds “Clair de lune” with three dance-inspired movements indebted to the spirit and forms of Couperin; Mizzy Mazzoli’s 2013 commission within a Brahms programme that set out to encapsulate the romantic, stormy idea of young pianists exploring the works of Brahms for the first time; and closing with Liszt’s virtuosic evocation of the Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso as described by Dante in his “Divinia Commedia” (Divine Comedy).

This concert will be followed by a Masterclass at 2pm.
